India`s economy projected to grow at 6.5 pc in 2024: Chief Economist Dr Manoranjan Sharma
Speaking about the economy and budget expectations for the year 2024, Chief Economist, Infomerics Ratings, Dr Manoranjan Sharma on January 05 said that India is an economic outperformer with expected growth of 6.5 pc, projecting 6.3-6.4 pc in 2025. He also said despite an 8pc current account situation and inflation below 5 pc, India is in strong position for sustained development.
While talking to the media, Chief Economist Dr Manoranjan Sharma said, “India will be the outperformer amid a recession in Western countries. And India will grow by about 6.5 per cent, and next year in 2025, it will grow between 6.3-6.4 per cent. One important thing I should mention that elections are being held in about 60 countries in the year 2024, which will have a significant impact on the process of development. However, the current account situation in India will be 8 per cent of the current GDP, inflation will be around 5 pc or below, and development will be at 6.5 pc. Looking at all this he said India is in a very strong position.”
