Fermenta Biotech shines on inking pact with VIT for Vitamin B12 Fortification Technology
Fermenta Biotech is currently trading at Rs. 499.35, up by 17.20 points or 3.57% from its previous closing of Rs. 482.15 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 475.05 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 507.00 and Rs. 475.05 respectively. So far 14620 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 579.65 on 10-Aug-2026 and a 52 week low of Rs. 256.40 on 05-Dec-2025.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 539.00 and Rs. 472.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1469.64 crore.

Fermenta Biotech has inked an Exclusive Licence Agreement with Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, for the commercialisation of a technology for Natural In-Situ Vitamin B12 Fortification in Fermented Foods. VIT’s technology is covered under Indian Patent Application No. 202441015300 and it has been developed by Krishnan Venkataraman and his team at the Centre for BioSeparation Technology (CBST), VIT Vellore. It provides an approach to enhancing Vitamin B12 directly within fermented foods during the natural fermentation process, rather than through the conventional addition of Vitamin B12 to the finished food product.
The next phase will include application development, nutritional validation, assessment of final Vitamin B12 concentrations, regulatory evaluation and development of commercially viable solutions for relevant food applications. The commercial potential extends across FMCG, food and nutrition, nutraceutical and broader health-related applications. The company will leverage its capabilities in this domain to enable scale-up into accessible pre-mixes and fortified food solutions, exemplifying a meaningful industry-academia synergy to combat widespread dietary deficiencies worldwide.
