External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on February 23 addressed the 2nd distinguished lecture series of Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service in Delhi. He hailed Anwar Mohammed Gargash, former Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs of the UAE. Also, he shared how the UAE-India relations were shaped positively.
EAM S Jaishankar said, "For those of you who have seen enormous change today in India-UAE relations you would appreciate that a lot of it begins in the year 2015. There were two aspects of our relationship, one that if any of you wanted an explanation of the enormous complexities of the region and you wanted a single-stop shop, that is this gentleman (Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Former Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs of the United Arab Emirates) before you... The other aspect is that people from our particular profession, many of us read good analyses and then may tell ourselves that it was great, but it won't work in real life. To have someone like him who can get the big picture as well as to understand the ground reality... The practicalities of how the system works, how you take the complex realities, carry own govt and convince other governments, shape policies and create regional or global consensus are the operational skills that we all develop over a period of time..."
