EAM highlights India`s leadership role in UN peacekeeping, with major deployments across Africa
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar launched India’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2028-29 term at the UN Headquarters in New York. Unveiling the theme “SHANTI – Securing Holistic Advancement through Norms, Trust, Integrity,” Jaishankar highlighted India’s vision of a secure, peaceful and equitable global order. He emphasized the need for stronger multilateralism, UN reforms, and greater representation for developing nations in global decision-making. India will contest for the Asia-Pacific seat in elections scheduled for June 2027
