Delhi: IBM signs MoUs with Government of India on Semiconductors, AI, Quantum
IBM signed MoUs with the Government of India on Semiconductors, AI and Quantum on October 18. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar was present at the occasion.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “This is certainly a very important day because three of the four technologies that are going to shape the future of tech and innovation in the coming years - AI, Quantum and Semiconductor and the fourth...represent for us tremendous opportunities for our academic ecosystem, for the startups and innovation ecosystem in particular and of course, the broader opportunity of creating global standard talent in India that can take advantage of the opportunities in Quantum, Semiconductors and AI.”
Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia said, “We have signed three MoUs. One of them is on semiconductor research. India will have to build several types of ecosystems for India Semiconductor Mission. R&D is needed for all of that...We have been working in this area for years. We will collaborate with the Government...The second one is AI. India is making a lot of progress in the field of Artificial Intelligence. We have been working in AI for years. We run AI skilling programs. As AI platforms increase in India, we will be a partner to the Govt to increase it. We will go ahead in the area of skilling. The third one is on Quantum Computing. The technology is beginning now. We are working on it in India. We will partner under the India Quantum Mission announced by the Govt to bring the technology to the country.”
