Market Outlook: Indian markets are likely to open on a negative note, with Gift Nifty declining by 0.35%, following weak global cues. On 8th September 2026, US markets ended lower, with the S&P 500 declining by 45.0 pts (-0.58%), Dow Jones falling by 626.7 pts (-1.17%) and Nasdaq 100 declining by 36.5 pts (-0.12%). Domestic markets witnessed selling pressure, with Nifty 50 declining by 0.61% to 23,635, while market breadth remained mixed with NSE advances at 1,710 against 1,833 declines and BSE advances at 2,009 against 2,384 declines. India VIX increased 0.63% to 11, indicating marginally higher volatility. Options data indicates Nifty Call OI concentration at 23,650 and Put OI concentration at 23,600, with PCR at 0.79, suggesting a narrow trading range in the near term.
FII & DII Activity: Institutional flows remained mixed, with FIIs/FPI turning marginal net sellers of Rs 123.2 crore, with gross purchases of Rs 11,704.8 crore and sales of Rs 11,828.0 crore. DIIs continued their buying momentum, recording net inflows of Rs 1,349.6 crore, supported by gross purchases of Rs14,678.5 crore and sales of Rs 13,328.9 crore. Domestic institutional participation continued to provide support amid cautious foreign investor activity.
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained mixed, with Pharma (+0.77%), Healthcare (+0.63%), Energy (+0.32%), PSE (+0.30%) and Auto (+0.28%) outperforming. IT (-0.37%), Financial Services (-0.93%), Services (-0.77%), Private Banks (-0.98%) and Oil & Gas (-0.67%) remained under pressure. Mid and small-cap indices showed resilience, with Nifty Midcap 100 gaining 0.21% and Nifty Smallcap 250 advancing 0.23%.
F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in GVT&D, Divi’s Laboratories, Kalyan Jewellers, Policybazaar and Bandhan Bank, indicating fresh buying interest. Short build-up was observed in Power India, Blue Star, Sagility, Bharat Dynamics and Tube Investments. Long unwinding was seen in Mankind Pharma, Trent, BSE, HDFC Life and Kotak Mahindra Bank, whereas short covering emerged in Laurus Labs, CG Power, HAL, Eternal and Pidilite Industries.

Biocon: Subsidiary Powerpulse Trading Solutions signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with MSEDCL for 2,500 MW round-the-clock renewable power. The contract will aggregate power from multiple sources and supports the company’s renewable energy initiatives. Additionally, Biocon signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to establish a 1,200-tonne-per-day maize processing facility in Nashik with an estimated capex of Rs 500 crore.
Suzlon Energy: The company secured its first order from Ayana Renewable Power for a 200 MW wind project in Madhya Pradesh. Suzlon will supply 64 S144 turbines along with balance-of-plant, transmission, commissioning and O&M services, taking cumulative sales of its S144 turbine platform beyond 10 GW.
Adani Energy Solutions: The company continued its focus on power transmission expansion, with sector developments highlighting increasing opportunities in renewable power evacuation and transmission infrastructure.
Torrent Power: Subsidiary Torrent Green Energy commissioned 322 MWp of decentralised solar projects across 50 locations and 14 talukas in Nashik under the MSKVY 2.0 agricultural feeder solarisation programme. The commissioning increased Torrent’s operational renewable capacity to approximately 2.2 GWp and total operational generation capacity to 6.66 GWp.
GE Shipping: The company contracted to acquire a 2019-built second-hand Kamsarmax dry-bulk carrier with 81,609 DWT capacity. The acquisition will be financed entirely through internal accruals and is expected to join the fleet in Q3FY27, strengthening its shipping capacity.
