Arvid Lindblad celebrates Diwali with Indian-inspired helmet at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 driver, Arvid Lindblad, is celebrating Diwali, the “Festival of Lights”, by unveiling a special Indian-inspired helmet ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix, with the festival falling on race day, Sunday, November 8.
Diwali, India’s most significant and widely celebrated festival, holds a special place in Arvid’s life, having celebrated it with his maternal grandparents, Nani and Nana, from a young age. The celebration symbolises hope, joy, triumph and the victory of light over darkness, with homes and communities traditionally illuminated by lamps, diyas and candles. The helmet offers a personal celebration of Arvid’s Indian heritage while bringing his family’s traditions to the Formula One stage.
Arvid Lindblad, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Driver, said, “Celebrating Diwali with my family, especially my Nani and Nana, has always been a very important part of my upbringing. Bringing this special helmet to life is a meaningful moment, as it celebrates my Indian heritage and family roots that are such an important part of who I am. I was really involved in the creative process because I wanted to create something that felt cool, while staying true to the meaning and traditions of Diwali. The design brings together elements like rangoli, the lotus flower, diyas and fireworks in a way that feels personal to me. I can’t wait to get back in the car in Brazil wearing this helmet. I know it will be an emotional moment, and I hope the helmet helps share the spirit of Diwali with people celebrating around the world. Happy Diwali.”
Arvid played a key role in shaping the design; combining contemporary elements with references to Diwali, his Punjabi heritage and the experiences that have shaped his journey. The result is a creative, modern and deeply personal expression of his Indian roots and his belief in having the power to shape your own path.
THE HELMET'S DESIGN
The helmet design draws inspiration from the rangoli patterns Arvid has created over the past few years, including one he made during last year’s Diwali. The intricate pattern on top of the helmet forms the foundation of the overall design, with elements flowing down the sides to build on the same visual theme.
Subtly integrated into the design is one of the most recognisable symbols of Diwali, the diya, representing light, hope and joy. At the front and rear of the helmet, the design comes to life with two further elements closely associated with the festival: the lotus and traditional fireworks. The lotus symbolises purity, resilience and the ability to rise above adversity. This resonates with Arvid's belief that your circumstances do not define you and that, through determination and hard work, you have the power to shape your own path. The fireworks reflect celebrations enjoyed by families around the world and Arvid’s family memories of lighting diyas together with his Nana.
The base of the helmet is a Phulkari-inspired pattern, a tribute to Arvid’s Nani and her Punjabi heritage.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls is supporting Arvid’s initiative to celebrate Diwali by bringing the spirit of the Festival of Lights to his side of the garage during the São Paulo GP. A dedicated “Happy Diwali” sticker will feature on the halo of Arvid’s car, while the garage floor will feature an intricate rangoli pattern alongside a lotus flower and diya positioned above his surname. The garage panels behind the car will also carry complementary rangoli-inspired designs, creating a visual connection between the helmet and the wider garage environment.
