Power Grid surges on joining hand with Africa50 to develop transmission project in Kenya

Power Grid Corporation of India is currently trading at Rs. 208.30, up by 3.45 points or 1.68% from its previous closing of Rs. 204.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 207.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 211.50 and Rs. 206.75 respectively. So far 351795 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 216.35 on 03-Dec-2021 and a 52 week low of Rs. 136.88 on 01-Feb-2021.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 211.50 and Rs. 203.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 145752.09 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 51.34%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 36.61% and 12.05% respectively.

Power Grid has joined hands with pan-African infrastructure investment platform ‘Africa50’ to continue the development of Kenya transmission project on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. The project entails the development, financing, construction, and operation of the 400kV Lessos - Loosuk and 220kV Kisumu - Musaga transmission lines under a PPP framework.

The company will provide technical and operational know-how to the project, while Africa50 will bring its project development and finance expertise and will act as a bridge between the Kenyan government and private investors. Once completed, the project will be the first independent power transmission (IPT) in Kenya and will set a reference point in Africa as the first financing of transmission lines on a PPP basis.
