* The BSE Sensex ended at 49,180.31 down by 871.13 points or 1.74% after trading in a range of 49,854.58 and 49,120.34. There were 2 stocks advancing and 28 stocks declining on the index.

* The broader indices ended in red; the BSE Mid cap index down by 1.69%, and Small cap index was down by 1.60%.

* The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were, Realty was down by 2.93%, Capital Goods was down by 2.06%, Utilities was down by 0.66%, Energy was down by 1.86%, FMCG was down by 1.35%, Oil & Gas was down by 1.73%, and Telecom was down by 1.51%, top lossing indices were on BSE.

* There were Asian Paint was up by 1.44%, and Power Grid was up by 0.98%, the top gainers were on the Sensex.

* There were Mahindra & Mahindra was down by 3.97%, SBIN was down by 3.38%, AXIS Bank was down by 3.33%, ICICI Bank was down by 3.22%, and Indusind Bank was down by 3.07%, the top losers were on the Sensex.

* The CNX Nifty ended at 14,549.40 down by 265.35 points or 1.79% after trading in a range of 14,752.35 and 14,535.00. There were 3 stocks advancing and 47 stocks declining.
