Carlyle Group acquires majority stake in beauty brand VLCC for $300 million

Private-equity firm Carlyle Group has acquired a majority stake in Indian beauty care and wellness solutions provider VLCC for around $300 million, two sources told Reuters on Tuesday

The equity for the transaction will come from funds managed and advised by entities affiliated with Carlyle Asia Partners, Carlyle said in a statement, without specifying a deal value.

Byju's seeks more time from lenders to renegotiate $1.2 billion debt

Byju’s, the world’s most valuable edtech startup, has sought more time from creditors to renegotiate an agreement governing a $1.2 billion loan that is in breach of covenants, according to people with knowledge of the matter

The creditors have until Tuesday to sign a forbearance agreement, which will give the company time till Feb. 10 to negotiate broader terms on the term loan, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information isn’t public. Byju’s hadn’t met the deadline to disclose financial results for the year ended March 31, they said.

Glenmark launches generic version of diuretic Bumetanide injection

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Tuesday said its US arm has launched its generic version of diuretic Bumetanide injection. In a statement the company said Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA (Glenmark) launched Bumetanide Injection of strengths of 1 mg/4 mL (0.25 mg/mL) single-dose vials and 2.5 mg/10 mL (0.25 mg/mL) multi-dose vials.

Tata-run iPhone plant to create opportunities in India, says TCS executive

Tata Group succeeding with its bid to take over an iPhone assembly plant in southern India would give a boost to the country’s ambitions to become an electronics manufacturing hub, a top executive at the conglomerate’s software services arm said.

“I am not directly involved in that, but it should be really good for India because this is going to create an opportunity in India to manufacture electronics and microelectronics,” N Ganapathy Subramaniam, operating chief at Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., told Bloomberg.

The $128 billion Tata Group has been in talks for months with Apple Inc.’s Taiwanese supplier Wistron Corp. and is looking to seal the purchase of its assembly factory near Bangalore by the end of March.

Adani Enterprises FPO may get a big boost from Gulf sovereign wealth funds

As Adani Enterprises gears up for its much-awaited follow-on public offer to raise up to Rs 20,000 crore, some of the biggest Adani group backers from the Gulf, including its strategic equity partner International Holding Company (IHC), are likely to be among the largest buyers of the FPO, according to The Economic Times.

The publication, citing people aware of the matter, reported that conglomerates such as IHC, and the public market desks of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, ADQ, Qatar Investment Authority and Mubadala have been tapped for the FPO, which will be the largest such issuance in India to date.
