Volkswagen unveils new mid-sized sedan Virtus in India; launch in May German auto major Volkswagen on Tuesday unveiled new mid-sized sedan 'Virtus' for the Indian market. The company has commenced pre-bookings for the new model which competes with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Skoda Slavia. Volkswagen plans to launch the model in the later part of May this year. The Virtus carries the global sedan lineage of the Volkswagen brand, selling over 129 models across our 61 years of presence in the sedan segment world over. A truly global carline that will redefine, re-energise and set new benchmarks in the premium mid-sized sedan segment in India," Volkswagen Passenger Cars India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said while unveiling the model.

IOC'sJune oil imports to be via tenders after snap 9 mn bbl deal: Report Indian Oil Corp, the country's top refiner, will seek oil for June arrival via tenders after snapping up 9 million barrels of prompt supplies as it delayed maintenance plans for the Paradip refinery, a source familiar with the matter said. The refiner has deferred a 40-day maintenance shutdown of its 300,000 barrels per day Paradip refinery to August-September from April-May to gain from improved margins for oil products, the source said. NFDC,Netflix join hands for virtual scriptwriting programme for women On the occasion of International Women's Day, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on Tuesday announced a virtual training programme for hundred women scriptwriters in partnership with streaming platform Netflix. With the programme, designed for industry professionals, freelance writers, academicians and final-year students of film schools, the NFDC aims to upskill and empower the creative community in India, and create a more gender-inclusive media and entertainment ecosystem, a press release stated.

Bombay HC allows Future Enterprises to sell stake in insurance JV The Bombay High Court has allowed Future Enterprises to sell its stake in insurance joint venture Future Generali to Italian partner Generali, the company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. A local city court in Mumbai, following objections raised by some bold holders of Future companies, had last month put on hold the plan of the cash-starved Future Enterprises to sell 25 per cent of its stake in Future Generali India Insurance Company to Generali for about Rs 1,252 crore.
