HAL signs pact with Alliance Air for deployment of civil Do-228 Aircraft
tate-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) on Sunday said it has signed a lease agreement with Alliance Air Aviation Limited for the supply of two Civil Do-228 aircraft for regional operations in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at giving boost to India's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). The HAL Do- 228 is a versatile aircraft well-suited for operations in the North East and has the capabilities of short take-off and landing, ability to land and take-off from semi-prepared runways, the company said in a release. This development opens a new vista in civil aviation for HAL, it said, adding the company is keen to increase its footprint in the regional civil aviation by engaging more numbers of HAL Do-228 by air operators of the country.
Jio leads active wireless subscriber base, adds 6.1 mn users in July
Reliance Jio led active wireless subscriber additions in July at 6.1 million, while Bharti Airtel's active user adds stood at 2.3 million, according to latest data by TRAI. Riding on the strong gains, Jio has scaled up its active subscriber market share, with its user tally on this count pegged at 346.49 million, analysts said crunching July telecom subscription numbers released by the sector regulator. Motilal Oswal, in its report, said that Reliance Jio had active subscriber additions of 6.1 million (as against 2.4 million additions in June) reaching about 346 million users in July.
Govt has no interest in acquiring any telecom firm: Vodafone Idea CEO
The government has given an option to telcos to pay back interest on dues through equity and also conveyed that it has no interest in acquiring any telecom company, a top official of debt-ridden Vodafone Idea has said. Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) Managing Director and CEO Ravinder Takkar in an interview to PTI said it is clear that the government wants the company to compete in the market and there should be at least three private service providers in the telecom sector.
HDFC Bank aims to double rural presence, hire 2,500 people
HDFC Bank, the country's largest private sector lender, on Sunday said it aims to double its rural reach to two lakh villages, which will see it hire 2,500 people in the next six months. The city-headquartered bank also said it aims to double its presence in the next 18-24 months through a combination of branch network , business correspondents, business facilitators, CSC (common service centres) partners, virtual relationship management and digital outreach platforms. Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had voiced disappointment over banking reach and asked lenders to do more.
Invesco reiterates demand to oust Punit Goenka from Zee Entertainment
Invesco Fund, which owns 18 per cent of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, has reiterated its demand to oust Punit Goenka, current CEO and MD, from the board and induct its six nominees on Zee board. In a letter to the ZEEL board, Invesco said the newly constituted board supported with the strength of independence will be best suited to evaluate and oversee potential for strategic transactions like the one announced on September 22 with Sony, as well as to make determinations on the future leadership of the company. When contacted, a ZEEL spokesperson said: "The Board is seized of the matter. The Company will take the necessary action as per applicable law.
