Indian shares erase losses as banks, metals offset IT slide

Indian shares erased intraday losses on Monday, as an uptick in banking, metal and auto stocks offset the decline in IT, while traders also braced for local retail inflation data, due later in the day.
The Nifty 50 index rose 0.07% at 18,509.15, as of 10:50 a.m IST, and the S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.02% to 62,195. Both the benchmarks had fallen 0.8% at the open.
All the major sectoral indices barring Nifty IT advanced, while the tech index also trimmed intraday losses.
