Summary: Hatchback cars have gained momentum in production and sales as car manufacturers are launching new variations in its previous models making them better day by day. Some of these hatchback cars competing in the market are Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo. Even though cars like Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Tata Tiago and Nissan Micra are also hatchback models yet they are not in the race since they are rivals to the previous versions of i10, Swift and Figo.

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift runs on both petrol and diesel engine with manual as well as automatic transmission. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios also runs on petrol and diesel with both manual and automatic transmission. However, Ford Figo runs on petrol and diesel for manual transmission and only petrol for its automatic transmission. 

Mileage 

Ford Figo’s petrol engine with manual transmission has a mileage of 18.5 Kmpl whereas, its diesel engine has a mileage of 25.8 Kmpl. Its petrol variant with automatic transmission is known to have a mileage of 18.2 Kmpl. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, for both its automatic and manual transmission, has a mileage of 20.7 Kmpl for its petrol variants and 26.2 Kmpl for its diesel variants. Maruti Suzuki Swift has a mileage of 22 Kmpl for its petrol engine and 28.4 Kmpl for its diesel engine in both manual and automatically transmitted variants. 

Thus, in terms of mileage, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios not only beats the other two but is also 93% better than other hatchback cars. If your preference for purchasing a car lies in finding the best mileage hatchback car then you can go for Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. 

Power and Torque

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is available in 19 variants having different engine capacity and power. Those with 998 cc engine yields 74 bhp of horsepower and 114 Nm of torque, whereas, the ones having 1186 cc engine gives a maximum horsepower of 82 bhp and torque of 172 Nm. Its most powerful engine variant of 1197 cc gives 99 bhp horsepower and a torque of 190 Nm. 

Maruti Suzuki Swift also has quite a few options when it comes to having variations in its model. Its powerful engine of 1197 cc has the capacity of yielding a horsepower of 82 bhp along with 113 Nm of torque. Moreover, with an engine of 1194 and 1499 cc, Ford Figo gives a maximum power of 95 and 99 bhp with 119 and 215 Nm torque respectively. 

Style and design

The new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with inbuilt facilities like a front grille, LED DRLs, sweptback headlamps, climate control, and more. Also, the all-new Swift is available in vibrant colours like red, blue, grey, white, silver and orange. Some of the smart features of the car include child safety lock, keyless entry, airbags, parking sensors, parking camera, USB and BT support and steering mounted audio.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, on the other hand, are up for sale in colours like aqua teal, alpha blue, typhoon silver, polar white, fiery red and titon grey. Grand i10 Nios are also available in dual-toned colours. Features of the new i10 include glovebox cooling, roof rails, wireless phone charger, iblue App, 13.46 cm digital speedometer, Apple CarPlay, Service Reminder, Rear Ac and many more. 

Ford Figo comes in 7 colours - grey, gold, blue, silver, white, black and red. Features like child safety lock, keyless entry, airbags, USB and Bluetooth support, ABS and steering mounted audio. 

Price 

The ex-showroom price of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios starts at Rs. 5.13 Lakh and can go up to Rs. 8.35 Lakh, whereas, for Maruti Suzuki Swift, it is listed as Rs. 5.19 Lakh to Rs. 8.02 Lakh. Ford Figo has its ex-showroom cost ranged between Rs. 5.49 Lakh to Rs. 8.15 Lakh. 

Verdict 

All the three cars are similar yet with minimal differences. Hyundai shares an upper hand having both petrol and diesel engines along with a new turbo petrol version. It gives good performance on-road and is an ideal car for city rides. Suzuki, on the other hand, is popular for its spacious cabin and premium features in its new model. You can select any of these based on your preference and budget.
