Competition Amendment Bill 2022 to facilitate Ease of Doing business PHDCCI Competition Law & Consumer Affairs Committee organized an Interactive Webinar on the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2022 on 29th August 2022.

Ms. Jyoti Jindgar, Secretary (I/C), Competition Commission of India was the Keynote Speaker at the webinar. 

The webinar was also graced with the presence of Shri. Dhanendra Kumar, Chair and Shri. Vivek Agarwal, Co- Chair of the Competition Law & Consumer Affairs Committee, PHDCCI. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Nasir Jamal, Secretary, PHDCCI.

Ms. Jyoti Jindgar gave detailed view covering every aspect of the Competition Amendment Bill 2022 and mentioned that the  Bill is quite comprehensive and amendments range from substantive to  procedural to clarificatory. She also said that the underlying principle is being to facilitate ease of doing business by providing regulatory certainty, introduction of framework for faster market correction and a trust based business environment

While thanking the Secretary for her gracious presence, Shri. Dhanendra Kumar said that the competition act 2022 is a tool to implement and enforce competition policy and to prevent and punish anti-competitive business practices by firms and unnecessary Government interference in the market. While explaining about the act he said that the main objective is to speed up the decision by CCI by fast-tracking the process, facilitating ease of doing business and creating trust based new regime with reduced timelines.

hri Vivek Agarwal applauded the Competition Commission of India for adopting a collaborative approach and taking into account the suggestions of all stakeholders while developing the regulatory environment. He also mentioned that the proposed amendments are a step in the right direction to enhance the ease of doing business and promote competition. 

While welcoming the dignitaries Dr. Nasir Jamal said that the Competition policy seeks to create a space in which all domestic and foreign firms compete equally. He also explained about the need for bringing the amendments like new age market, issue of aquasition, gun jumping and Hub-and-Spoke Cartels. 

Dr. Ravi Rathod Joint Secretary, PHDCCI gave a formal vote of thanks and the webinar was attended by more than 60 delegates.
