Average daily fliers dip to 288k, PLFs moderate WoW

Weekly average daily fliers came in at 288k in the week ended (W.E) 30th Oct’21 vs 300k in the W.E. 23rd Oct’21. For the W.E. 30th Oct’21, average number of departures increased to 2,356 vs 2,340 in the previous week. The number of fliers per departure declined to 122 vs 128 in the prior week.

 

Overall PLF has declined in the W.E 30th Oct’21: Weekly average PLF of all the airlines dipped in the W.E 30th Oct’21.

Market share movement: Based on Sep’21 data, Go Air (8.2%), Air Asia (5.8%), Vistara (8.7%) gained 140bps, 60bps, 40bps MoM respectively while Air India (12.1%), Indigo (56.20%) and SpiceJet (8.5%) witnessed 110bps, 80bps and 20bps MoM loss in market share.

 

Highlights of the week:

* Domestic airlines to operate 4% lower departures a week in upcoming winter schedule: Domestic airlines will operate 22,287 departures a week during the upcoming winter schedule (31st Oct’21 – 26th Mar’22) as compared to 23,308 departures per week during same period two years ago. Indigo will operate 10,243 departures followed by SpiceJet (2,995), GoAir (2,290), Air India (2,053), Vistara (1,675) and Air Asia (1,393). While Vistara saw biggest increase of 22% among big carriers, the biggest decline was seen for SpiceJet (31%) for the winter schedule.
