August witnesses traffic moderation as per seasonal trends; IndiGo gains market share

Average daily fliers stood at ~304k for Aug’22-TD vs 316k for the month of Jul’22. For Aug’22-TD, the average number of daily departures declined from 2,558 to 2,449, and number of fliers per departure remained stable at 124.

IndiGo saw highest MoM market share gains while Go First saw highest decline in Jun’22: IndiGo witnessed a sharp 130bps MoM increase in market share to 57% while Go First’s market share declined at a similar rate to 9.5%. Air India / Vistara gained 30bps/80bps MoM improvement in market share to 8.6%/9.4% in Jun’22. SpiceJet lost 50bps MoM to 9.5%.

PLF declined sequentially for all the major airlines in Jun’22. Go First saw maximum MoM decline while Vistara saw lowest MoM decline in their PLF in Jun’22.
