As, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Summit of the Future at UN Headquarters in New York; summit director Michèle Griffin praised India’s push for reform in international cooperation. She further informed that the summit aims to enhance representation for the global south in areas like Security Council reform and financial structures and emphasized about India's role as a key voice for the global south.
Speaking to ANI, Michèle Griffin said, “We are very excited that he is coming. India is a major voice on the world stage and major voice of the global south. One huge purpose of this Summit is actually to really to make sure that international cooperation represents and serves the people of the global south much more effectively than it has been doing so far. So, whether that's on Security Council reform and looking at how the Security Council functions or how the international financial architecture functions. India has been a huge voice in pushing for the kinds of change that this Summit holds to deliver. We are very excited that the PM is coming & will be that voice….”
