Italian PM Meloni meets President-elect Donald Trump at his Florida resort
Italian PM Giorgia Meloni met US President-elect Trump in Florida on Jan 04, as she seeks to buttress ties with Trump before his inauguration on Jan 20. Photographs released by Italian government showed Meloni and Trump speaking to each other probably on major issues. In another photograph, they are flanked by US businessman, billionaire Tilman Fertitta and Marco Rubio, Trump's nominee for secretary of state. Meloni had planned to speak with Trump about Russia-Ukraine war, trade issues, Middle East and others, as per Italian Media reports. Meloni is seen as a potentially strong partner for Trump given her conservative credentials and the stability of the right-wing coalition she heads in Italy. She has also forged a close relationship with Tesla Boss Elon Musk who spent more than a quarter-billion dollars to help him win election.
