Women in Gujarat are gaining financial independence through the Samarth Scheme, which provides specialized training in Zari-Zardozi. With a ?495 crore budget for FY 2024-26, the scheme aims to train 3 lakh individuals in textile skills. In Surat, 135 women have already completed training, with 60 more currently enrolled. Former MoS for Textiles Darshana Jardosh has played a key role in its expansion. Other initiatives like PURNA, Mahila Swavalamban, and Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana are further empowering women, helping them generate employment while preserving Gujarat’s textile heritage.
