Founder and Chairman of Vedanta Resources Limited, Anil Agarwal, after attending Advantage Assam 2.0 - Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, said, “I understand this business. We are the only producers of oil and gas in private sector in India. We have already deployed two rakes. It is a very risky business. But we have decided that we will go ahead because once you start producing oil, then downstream, a lot of entrepreneurs can set up the industry. We are fully committed. I believe that today’s time, our Assam has a very nice basin which can have a lot of exploration drive. We produce (oil) at around 10-15 dollars and we are importing at 85 dollars. We can produce oil at our own and Assam can do it.”
