Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlights strong India-Canada trade, eyeing major economic partnership
Speaking at ICBC Annual National Convention 2025, Union Minister Piyush Goyal says, "...Indo-Canada relations have been long and time-tested. We have had a few ups and downs occasionally. But the people of both nations share very strong bonds and linkages, whether in investment and trade or in people-to-people contact through a very large Indian diaspora... Canada and India are natural allies. We don't compete with each other. We actually complement each other. The strengths of Canada and India together can become a force multiplier for businesses and investors. The recent meetings between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Mark Carney, including the one held very recently at the G20 summit, clearly set the direction for the future of the Canadian-India relationship. They have agreed to begin negotiations for a high-ambition comprehensive economic partnership agreement and to double trade between the two nations by 2030..."
