* India Bans Sugar Exports Till Sept 2026 to Curb Domestic Prices: India has banned exports of raw, white and refined sugar with immediate effect until Sept. 30, 2026, shifting the policy status from “restricted” to “prohibited” amid concerns over falling cane yields and tighter domestic supplies. The move, aimed at cooling local prices, comes despite earlier approval for 1.59 million metric tons of exports, of which over 600,000 tons have already been shipped. The export curbs are expected to support global sugar prices and create opportunities for rival exporters such as Brazil and Thailand, while concerns over El Niño-led monsoon disruptions further cloud India’s production outlook.
