SME IPO market raised Rs 1,220 crore in August 2026; fresh-capital mobilisation reaches highest in CY2026 so far: B2K Analytics
According to a report by B2K Analytics, August 2026 witnessed 22 SME IPO listings, with issue proceeds rising to Rs 1,220 crore. This marks a 37.5% MoM increase in funds raised.
Listings more than tripled from April’s trough of 7, extending the recovery for four consecutive months. August also marked the highest fundraise through the SME listing platforms in CY2026 so far.

“The surge in August issuances reflects accelerated launches by companies aiming to utilise their in-principle exchange approvals prior to the September 30, 2026, one-time extension deadline by the exchanges. Promoters and merchant bankers actively pushed issues through the pipeline to list under existing compliance parameters ahead of impending tighter entry conditions. The transition is resulting in a large number of deals being concentrated in August and expected to continue in September across both BSE SME and NSE Emerge,” said Ritaban Basu, CEO, B2K Analytics.
Fundraising led by primarily capital-formation-led than promoter liquidity

Fresh issues accounted for Rs 1,113 crore, or roughly 91% of proceeds, indicating fund raising targeted at working capital, capacity additions, and debt reduction rather than secondary liquidity. BSE SME remained the larger contributor to the fresh issues, raising Rs 627 crore in August. Meanwhile, NSE Emerge saw an increase in fresh capital mobilisation. doubling to Rs 486 crore from Rs 225 crore in July.
Further, average issue size increased to Rs 55.5 crore in August from Rs 44.4 crore in July, suggesting that the fund-raise recovery was driven by both more issues and larger deal sizes.
~64% of SME IPOs debuted at listing gains
In August 2026, SME IPO listing performance remained largely positive with 14 out of 22 IPOs listing at premiums while 6 at discounts and 2 with no gain or loss. This implies that ~64% of SME IPOs debuted at listing gains, indicating continued investor appetite for SME offerings despite an increase in fundraising activity and overall weak secondary market activities. Both July and August recorded 14 gainers each, suggesting a meaningful improvement of SME IPO listings. Yet, the overall trend remains constructive but selective.

The top five companies with the strongest listing gains opened 25% to 90% above their issue prices. All these 5 companies retained these gains post-listing. Among these, Poojaa Precision Engg Limited, one of the largest issues in August, delivered a 56.2% listing gain. As of 4th September, the stock trades at Rs 639, over double its issue price, disproving the notion that large SME issues suffer from liquidity discounts.

Medium term outlook sound for quality companies
Fundamentally sound companies with credible growth narratives will command premium valuations, while weaker issuers face severe discount risks. The listing of quality companies will be further reinforced by the proposed Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirements (ICDR) revisions. The revisions enforce minimum positive operational EBITDA track records and net worth filters to eliminate shell listings.
Further, average issue sizes are expected to continue migrating above Rs 50-100 crore, attracting specialised small-cap institutional funds and Family Offices. Listing gains are also likely to increasingly decouple from retail subscription multiples and reflect genuine post-listing earnings visibility.
