SEBI relaxes Foreign Portfolio Investor norms, raises eligibility threshold to ?50,000 Crore

Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI), Tuhin Kanta Pandey informed that the SEBI has relaxed Foreign Portfolio investor norms, and have raised eligibility threshold to ?50,000 Crore." Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) regulations were changed in 2019 where we press note 3 things were brought in as a size criteria of Rs 25,000 crore and subsequently on August 25, 2023, there was also regulatory change on concentration criterion...therefore additional disclosure was required...the board has decided to revise, based on public comments and recommendations of FPI Advisory Committee. This size criteria is now being taken from Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore. Concentration criteria remains the same, that is 50%," said Tuhin Kanta Pandey
