Rupee weakens against US dollar on Wednesday

The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Wednesday tracking foreign fund outflows from the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors sold equities worth Rs 2,853.83 crore on a net basis on Tuesday, exchange data showed. Moreover, firm American currency overseas with cautiousness ahead of a potential call between the US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping also added more pressure on rupee sentiments. However, some declines were limited by a positive domestic equity market and softer global crude oil prices.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 85.86, weaker by 25 paise from its previous close of 85.61 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 85.92 and 85.6925 respectively.
