Rupee weakens against US dollar on Thursday

The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Thursday, as market participants are keenly awaiting cues from the trade talks between India and the United States. Meanwhile, investors also awaited key US inflation data, seen as crucial for a possible Federal Reserve rate cut in the upcoming meeting. Moreover, foreign fund outflows and firm American currency have also dampened rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 115.69 crore on Wednesday, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 88.23, weaker by 12 paise from its previous close of 88.11 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.25 and 88.1150 respectively.
