Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Wednesday
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday due to a steady dollar overseas, while investors await the outcome of the two-day GST Council meeting to revise rates. However, India-US trade deal uncertainty, muted domestic equities and foreign fund outflows have limited further gains in rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 1,159.48 crore on Tuesday, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 88.10, stronger by 5 paise from its previous close of 88.15 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.15 and 87.9825 respectively.
