Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Thursday
Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday tracking rising crude oil prices. However, some gains were limited after the US dollar index remaining above the 106-mark against major peers overseas and hawkish commentaries from some US Federal Reserve officials. Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 354.35 crore on Wednesday, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.15, stronger by 7 paise from its previous close of 83.22 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.2550 and 83.1350 respectively.
