Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Monday
Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Monday despite sharp jump in crude oil prices and strength of American currency at overseas market amidst heightened concerns in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 90.29 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) net purchased shares to the tune of Rs 783.25 crore on Friday, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.25, stronger by 2 paise from its previous close of 83.27 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.26 and 83.2150 respectively.
