Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Friday

Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday as the American currency retreated from elevated level on relief that US President Donald Trump reciprocal tariff plan will not kick in immediately. However, weak domestic equities, unabated foreign fund outflows and higher crude oil prices, have limited further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 2,789.91 crore on net basis on Thursday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 86.89, stronger by 4 paise from its previous close of 86.93 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 86.8950 and 86.8375 respectively.
