Indian equities are likely to witness a firm opening, with Gift Nifty trading around 23,492, up 53 points. Global risk sentiment has improved, with U.S. equities posting strong gains and Asian markets largely positive, while softer crude prices have eased some pressure on oil-importing economies.

In the previous session on 21st September 2026, Nifty closed at 23,414.30, gaining 67.90 points (+0.29%). The index opened at 23,330.20, found support near 23,314.80 and moved higher to an intraday high of 23,466.80 before ending above the 23,400 mark. The bullish price action indicates continued buying interest, although some profit booking was visible near the day’s high.

The recovery has improved near-term momentum, with RSI at 37.54 moving above its RSI Average of 32.54, though it remains below the 50 level. Immediate support is placed at 23,250–23,300, while resistance is seen at 23,550–23,600.

In the previous session on 21st September 2026, Bank Nifty closed at 56,470.65, gaining 111.95 points (+0.20%), after moving between 56,269.55 and 56,668.20. The index maintained a positive tone but faced some selling near the day’s high. Immediate support is placed at 56,000–56,300, while resistance is seen at 56,800–57,000.

On 21st September 2026, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers, offloading equities worth Rs 576 crore. Meanwhile, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their buying support, purchasing equities worth Rs 2,800 crore during the session.

The short-term structure is gradually stabilizing, supported by improving momentum and renewed buying interest across key sectors. Still, the recovery remains measured as Nifty approaches the 23,500 area and Bank Nifty continues to face overhead technical hurdles. A sustained expansion in market breadth and stronger participation would be needed to confirm that the recent rebound is gaining broader traction.
