Benchmark indices witnessed profit booking at higher levels. Nifty closed 158 points lower, while Sensex was down 542 points. Among sectors, the IT index declined the most, declining by 2.20 per cent, while the PSU Bank index rallied by over 1.40 per cent, despite weak market sentiment. Technically, the market once again faced resistance around 25,250/82,800 and reversed sharply. On the daily chart, a bearish candle has formed, and on the intraday chart, a lower top is visible, indicating a negative trend.

We believe that, although the intraday market structure looks weak, a fresh sell-off is possible only after crossing the 25,000/82,000 levels. Below these levels, the market may retest 24,950-24,850/81,800-81,500. Conversely, if the market moves above 25,150/82,200, it could technically bounce back to 25,255/82,500. The uptrend could continue further, potentially taking the market to 25,350/82800.

For the Bank Nifty, 57250/57300 would act as a key resistance zone, while 56850 may serve as a crucial support level for the bulls. Below 56,850, it may drop to 56,600-56,650 while above 57300, it may move up to 57,500-57,700.

For today, it is advisable to buy contra between 24950-24975 with a stop-loss of 24850. Above 25000, it has scope to rise to 25100 and 25150 levels. Closing below 24850 will have negative consequences.
