"Indian equities extended gains for the second straight session on Wednesday, with benchmark indices closing sharply higher. The Sensex jumped 862 points to settle above 84,400, while the Nifty climbed 249 points to end just shy of 25,600. Buying interest was seen across most sectors, led by FMCG, banking, auto, and realty stocks. Nestle India, Tata Consumer, Titan Company, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Axis Bank emerged as top performers on the Nifty, while HDFC Life, Shriram Finance, Sun Pharma, Jio Financial, and Eternal saw profit booking.

Broader markets also advanced, with the BSE Midcap index gaining 0.3 percent and the Smallcap index up 0.4 percent. Sectorally, barring PSU Banks, all indices ended in positive territory, reflecting improved market sentiment amid firm global cues and steady domestic fund inflows. Overall, the tone remained optimistic ahead of key earnings announcements and festive demand expectations."
