"Indian indices closed at 23,477.80, up by 46.30 points (+0.20%), after Nifty opened on a weaker note and remained largely sideways during the session. The index made an intraday low of 23,380.10 and struggled to gain meaningful momentum during regular trading hours. However, a sharp upside move during the Closing Auction Session (CAS) helped the index recover from the day’s low and finish in positive territory. The CAS also led to a significant late-session swing in the benchmark indices.

From a technical perspective, the setup remains weak despite the positive closing, as Nifty is trading below its key moving averages and has also slipped below the rising trendline visible on the daily chart. RSI stands at 28.94 against its RSI average of 39.97, indicating weak momentum and an oversold zone. The sharp CAS recovery provides some near-term relief, but a sustained recovery above the short-term moving-average structure would be required to improve the technical setup. The index continues to require stabilization around the current support area before a meaningful trend reversal can be considered.

Sector-wise, Media, PSU Bank and Consumer Durables closed higher, providing some support to the broader market. On the other hand, Auto, Metal, Pharma and IT remained under pressure, keeping the overall sectoral structure mixed.

India VIX declined to 11.7950, indicating some cooling in volatility despite the sharp movement during the closing auction. Options data shows Call OI concentrated around 23,400–23,500, while Put OI is concentrated around 23,500–23,300. The Nifty PCR stands at 1.00, indicating a balanced options setup around the current market level.

Bank Nifty closed at 56,471.95, up by around 176.40 points (+0.31%), after opening lower and remaining under pressure during the session. The index made an intraday low of 56,231.85, but witnessed a sharp recovery during the Closing Auction Session from the day’s low, resulting in a positive close. The index is currently trading below the 200-Day EMA, keeping the broader technical structure cautious. RSI stands at 38.83, below the midpoint, indicating weak momentum and limited strength despite the positive closing. Sustained recovery above the key moving-average resistance would be required for the setup to improve meaningfully. On the downside, support is placed at 56,000–56,100, while resistance is seen at 56,600–56,750.

Overall bias remains cautiously sideways to negative. Although both Nifty and Bank Nifty managed positive closes due to the sharp recovery during the CAS, the underlying technical structure remains weak, with Nifty showing oversold momentum and Bank Nifty trading below its 200-Day EMA. Lower volatility and balanced options positioning provide some stability, but sustained buying during regular trading hours is required to establish a stronger recovery."
