"The two mega themes of central budgets since 2020 have been fiscal discipline and infrastructure investments. The Fiscal Deficit has reduced steadily from a peak of 9.2% in the Covid year to 4.4% last year. Simultaneously, Capex has steadily increase from roughly 5.5 lac cr in the pandemic year to over 11 lac cr last year. Both these powerful trends have continued in this year's budget, with further reduction in FD to 4.3% and increase in Capex to over 12 lac cr.
