‘April 2026 was a rewarding month for equity investors, with small-caps delivering double-digit returns. This strong market performance seemingly has reinforced investor confidence, as equity mutual funds attracted net inflows of over INR 38,000 crore during the month. Strong and sustained SIP contributions, up around 18% y-o-y at INR 31,115 crore, continued to provide a meaningful counterbalance to persistent FII selling.

Category-wise, investor preference moved away from thematic/sectoral funds and remained skewed toward broader-market strategies. Large-cap fund inflows continued to trail mid-cap and small-cap categories, while flexi-cap and multi cap funds led with inflows around INR 14,000 crore, accounting for nearly 36% of total equity mutual fund inflows.’
