MediaTek bets big on India with new chipsets, satellite tech, and design partnerships

MediaTek, a leading Taiwan-based semiconductor company, recently unveiled its Dimensity 9500 chipset, highlighting its advanced capabilities and strong presence in India. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Anku Jain, Managing Director of MediaTek, emphasized the company’s 47% market share in India’s smartphone segment and its leadership in other verticals including smart TVs, routers, and Chromebooks. Jain noted that India’s semiconductor ecosystem is rapidly developing, fueled by the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which has already led to the announcement of 10 new products. While acknowledging challenges such as a shortage of skilled manpower, he expressed optimism about India’s long-term roadmap for advanced technology nodes over the next 10–20 years. Jain also highlighted MediaTek’s role as a leading design firm partnering with manufacturers and announced its advancements in satellite communication with chipsets for IoT-NTN and NR-NTN. He reaffirmed MediaTek’s bullish outlook on India, citing its vast growth potential.
