Maharashtra:``I am very happy…``SP's Abu Azmi after winning from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar
After winning from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Assembly constituency, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi on Saturday thanked the people of the area for bestowing their trust in him. Azmi claimed that a lot of rumours and narratives were spread regarding drugs and crime to cut the votes.
"I am very happy and the victory would have been with a margin of 35,000 votes but to cut the votes a lot of rumours and narratives were spread that there is a lot of drugs and crime in the area...People rejected NCP leader Nawab Malik...I thank the public for bestowing their trust in me," he said.
Azmi won the Maharashtra polls from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar with 54780 votes and defeated All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen's Ateeque Ahmad Khan with 12753 votes. NCP leader Nawab Malik also lost the polls.
