Plans are underway to significantly expand India's strategic oil reserves with UAE-linked crude storage. New facilities will increase capacity from 5.8 million barrels to 30 million barrels. Both nations are also establishing a framework for strategic gas reserves. This initiative aims to provide greater flexibility and ensure stable energy supplies for India

Global News

• US Inflation Hits 3-Year High as Energy Shock from Iran Conflict Fuels Price Pressures: US inflation accelerated sharply in May, with CPI rising 0.5% MoM and 4.2% YoY the highest level in over three years-primarily driven by a 7% surge in gasoline prices following the Iran conflict. While core inflation remained relatively subdued at 0.2% MoM, higher energy costs eroded consumer purchasing power, leading to a 0.7% decline in real average hourly earnings, the steepest drop in over three years. Although grocery inflation stayed contained and housing inflation moderated, rising transportation, hotel, and restaurant costs indicate broader inflationary pressures. With energyrelated supply disruptions expected to keep prices elevated, markets increasingly anticipate a potential Fed rate hike later this year despite an expected pause at the June policy meeting.
