Jainam, an end to end financial services company, has released its annual Diwali Muhurat Picks 2026 - Samvat 2083 research report, reviewing Indian equity market performance during Samvat 2082 and identifying five stocks for the year ahead.

India recorded real GDP growth of 7.8% in the April–June 2026 quarter, reflecting continued economic momentum. Over the Samvat 2082 period, equity market performance varied across market-cap segments, with the Nifty 50 declining 10.88% and the Sensex falling 11.81% between the Muhurat Trading session on October 21, 2025, and October 30, 2026. The Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap index declined 4.21% and 3.02%, respectively. The report examines these movements alongside evolving valuations, domestic investment activity and the global developments influencing Indian capital markets.

Despite these headwinds, India's economic growth remained resilient, with real GDP growing 7.8% in Q1 FY27. The report also highlights continued domestic investor participation, with monthly SIP inflows reaching a record rs 32,490 crore in September 2026, even as FPI equity selling crossed Rs 3 lakh crore during the year.

For Samvat 2083, Jainam's research team has identified five stocks through a combination of fundamental and technical analysis: The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra and Bharti Hexacom. The selections span hospitality, private sector banking, IT services and telecom. The research evaluates each company's business performance, financials, valuations, growth prospects and key risks.

Himanshu Gupta, Head of Research – Retail Broking (AVP), Jainam, said: "Samvat 2082 was a year in which market performance was shaped by several external factors, from geopolitical developments and crude oil prices to currency movements and foreign investor flows. At the same time, domestic economic growth and sustained SIP participation remained important features of the Indian market. As we enter Samvat 2083, investors need to assess businesses through their earnings performance, valuations, growth prospects and the risks they carry. Our five selections bring together fundamental research and technical analysis to identify opportunities across different sectors. The report also outlines the key levels and risk parameters that investors should consider while evaluating these stocks."

The report provides a broader assessment of the factors likely to influence market direction in Samvat 2083, covering India's economic and policy environment, global interest rates, geopolitical developments, commodities, currency movements, institutional flows, market valuations and technical trends across key indices.
