Godavari Biorefineries soars on securing Chinese patent for novel anti-cancer molecule

Godavari Biorefineries is currently trading at Rs. 340.00, up by 13.20 points or 4.04% from its previous closing of Rs. 326.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 335.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 343.00 and Rs. 333.00 respectively. So far 15254 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'T' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 408.25 on 09-Dec-2024 and a 52 week low of Rs. 145.20 on 28-Mar-2025.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 343.00 and Rs. 301.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1739.22 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.31%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 14.61% and 22.08% respectively.

Godavari Biorefineries, through its clinical-stage biotech division Sathgen Therapeutics, has been granted a patent by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), China’s patent and trademark office for its novel anti-cancer molecule - HYDROXY-1, 4-NAPHTHALENEDIONE. 

This patent covers a novel class of compounds that have exhibited strong inhibitory effects on cancer and cancer stem cells in vitro studies. These compounds have demonstrated significant efficacy against multiple cancer cell types, including breast and prostate cancer. 

The company’s clinical-stage biotech division, Sathgen Therapeutics, is at the forefront of advancing novel cancer and antiviral therapies.
