Q) How is the future FPI flow expected to be?
US Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s statement in Jackson Hole signaling imminent rate cuts, as well as greater confidence in a soft landing, helped prop up emerging markets, including India. FPI flows are expected to remain volatile.
Q) How are other emerging markets performing?
FPI flows to date in Aug’24 were mixed for emerging markets. India, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam witnessed outflows of US$518 mn, US$1913 mn, US$2353 mn, US$77 mn, and US$130 mn, respectively. Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines witnessed inflows of US$1,703 mn, US$1,125 mn, US$491 mn, and US$149 mn, respectively.
