Delhi EV Policy: From incentives to mandates - Accelerating the city`s electrification journey by ICRA
The Delhi EV Policy 2026 marks a shift from incentive-led adoption to mandate-driven electrification, making it one of India’s most interventionist EV frameworks. The policy combines subsidies, scrappage benefits and tax exemptions with phased restrictions on new ICE vehicle registrations, including mandatory electrification of key 2W, 3W and commercial vehicle segments.
This is expected to significantly accelerate EV adoption, strengthen the charging ecosystem and create a strong growth runway for EV OEMs, infrastructure providers and financiers, while implementation will hinge on charging infrastructure expansion, affordability and supply-chain readiness.
