Days after PM Narendra Modi-Xi Jinping meeting in Kazan, NSA Doval likely to visit China soon
New Delhi, December 16 (ANI): India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is likely to visit China soon for Special Representative talks, according to sources. NSA’s visit to China comes after New Delhi & Beijing in Oct reached agreement regarding patrolling arrangements along LAC. The border standoff between India & China began in eastern Ladakh along the LAC in 2020, and was sparked by Chinese military actions. The led to prolonged tensions between the two nations, significantly straining bilateral relations for several months. Notably, in 2020, Doval & Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China held a telephonic conversation. The two SRs had "frank and in-depth exchange of views" on recent developments in Western Sector of India-China border areas. The 22nd meeting of the Special Representatives of India and China was held in New Delhi on December 21, 2019. The Indian side was led by NSA Ajit Doval while Wang Yi led Chinese delegation, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. On Dec 3, EAM Dr S Jaishankar said that India remains "committed to engaging with China through bilateral discussions”. Notably, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan.
