Equity markets recouped early losses and ended higher on Tuesday as US and Asian markets traded on a positive note. United States President stated that his administration is working on “a very different deal” with India, aiming for a “fair” agreement — a development seen as potentially positive for export-linked sectors and overall market confidence. The Nifty50 closed +0.5% higher at 25,695 (+120 points). Among broader indices, the Nifty Midcap100 gained 0.5%, while the Smallcap100 slipped 0.2%, indicating selective participation. Sectorally, performance was mixed. Nifty IT gained for the second consecutive day today with gains of 1.2%, followed by Nifty Auto (+1.1%). On the other hand, Nifty PSU Bank (-0.4%) witnessed mild profit booking. In fund flows, equity mutual fund inflows declined by 19% in October to ?24,691 crore, even as benchmark indices gained. The moderation was led by lower inflows into mid- and small-cap categories, while flexi-cap funds attracted the most investments. Debt funds, meanwhile, saw a sharp rebound led by strong inflows into liquid schemes. Key results scheduled for release tomorrow include Hindustan Aeronautics, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Info Edge, Ashok Leyland, and Prestige Estates, which will be closely watched for sectoral cues. Going forward, the Q2 results season is nearing its end and is expected to conclude on a positive note, supported by better-than-expected performance from the broader market. Near-term market direction will hinge on the ongoing earnings season and progress on the US–India trade discussions. Any constructive developments on the trade front could bolster investor sentiment and lend support to overall market momentum.
