Below the Commentary on Markets 12th May 2026 by Mr. Vikram Kasat, Head Advisory, PL Capital
"The Indian equity markets have seen a steep correction on Tuesday with the Sensex shedding more than 1,400 points during intra-day trading while the Nifty moved below the 23,400 level amid negative international sentiments, high crude oil prices and ongoing FII outflows. The stock markets opened lower with poor indications on GIFT Nifty and maintained their negative tone for the rest of the session amid tensions in the Middle East, lowest-ever rupee levels and rising bond yields. IT, financial and consumer stocks were among the top losers on the day, while selective buying interest was seen in oil and gas stocks. The volatility in the markets also remained high on account of F&O expiry related positioning. Going ahead, investors are expected to closely track crude oil movement, rupee trajectory, global geopolitical developments and upcoming macroeconomic data, which are likely to dictate near-term market direction."
