Closing Market Summary 27th October 2026 by Choice Broking Private Limited

"Nifty closed at 22,749.75, down 3.45 points (-0.02%), ending almost flat for the session. The index opened mildly lower by around 44 points at 22,708.80 and witnessed buying interest during the first half, pushing it to an intraday high of 22,829.75. However, sharp profit booking emerged at higher levels, dragging the index to an intraday low of 22,636.85, before a modest recovery towards the close. The daily candlestick formed a doji-like pattern, reflecting indecision as buying interest at lower levels was offset by selling pressure near the intraday high.

Price action suggests that Nifty is attempting to stabilize after recent weakness, but it has yet to establish a decisive upward move. Support is placed at 22,500–22,600, while resistance is seen at 22,850–22,900. RSI stood at 46.00, above its RSI average of 42.25, indicating improving short-term momentum, although the index remains below its key daily moving averages. PCR stood at 1.04, while India VIX declined to 16.5325, suggesting some easing in volatility despite continued market uncertainty.

Sectorally, Media, Realty, Pharma, Auto and Consumer Durables were among the stronger performers. On the other hand, Cement, Private Banks, Financial Services, Banking and IT remained under pressure, highlighting mixed market participation.

Bank Nifty closed at 53,974.90, down 391.80 points (-0.72%). The index opened higher by around 54 points at 54,420.70 and initially advanced to an intraday high of 54,654.05. However, sharp selling pressure emerged in private banking stocks, dragging the index to an intraday low of 53,951.20, near which it eventually closed. The inability to sustain its opening gains highlights continued weakness in the banking space.

Price action remained bearish, with Bank Nifty closing near the day's low and trading below its key daily moving averages. Support is placed at 53,300–53,700, while resistance is seen at 54,500–54,700. RSI stood at 35.66, below its RSI average of 43.59, indicating weak momentum and continued selling pressure.

The Private Bank index declined, while the PSU Bank index managed to close in positive territory, reflecting relative resilience in public-sector lenders. Union Bank was the top gainer among Bank Nifty constituents, while AU Small Finance Bank was the top loser, highlighting the divergence within the banking space.

Overall market bias remains cautious, with a mixed undertone. Nifty's near-flat close and improving RSI suggest some stabilization, but the doji-like candle indicates a lack of clear directional conviction. Meanwhile, weakness in Bank Nifty and private banking stocks continues to weigh on sentiment. Selective sectoral strength and easing volatility are supportive, but sustained buying participation will be important for a stronger recovery."
