BSNL will soon launch 5G services, test runs completed: Vivek Dua PGM

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set to launch its 5G services soon, following the successful completion of its 5G pilot project and ongoing trials for upgrading its existing 4G network, said Vivek Dua, Principal General Manager (PGM) CDN at the state-owned telecom company. Speaking at the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, Dua confirmed that the 4G network is upgradable and field trials for 5G are already underway. Highlighting India’s growing focus on satellite communication, he said recent government initiatives and the updated space policy are unlocking significant potential, particularly when combined with fibre and radio networks to bridge connectivity gaps across the country’s diverse terrain. Dua emphasized that international investment will accelerate SATCOM development, enabling democratized access to digital services. He also praised BSNL’s transformation, citing government support, customer-centric reforms, and progress in the BharatNet program to connect all villages. Looking ahead, Dua noted that AI will play a pivotal role in evolving networks from 5G to 6G, enhancing automation, self-learning, and consumer-centric benefits
