BPCL rises on collaborating with BluJ Aerospace, ANERT, CIAL to develop hydrogen-powered VTOL aviation ecosystem

Bharat Petroleum Corporation is currently trading at Rs. 265.85, up by 3.70 points or 1.41% from its previous closing of Rs. 262.15 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 263.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 266.35 and Rs. 263.00 respectively. So far 50229 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 376.00 on 30-Sep-2024 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.15 on 03-Mar-2025.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 266.95 and Rs. 258.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 114882.66 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.98%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 37.92% and 9.10% respectively.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) has entered into a quadripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BluJ Aerospace, the Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT), Government of Kerala, and Cochin International Airport (CIAL) to develop the first hydrogen-fueled Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft ecosystem globally. 

BPCL will establish hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for VTOL aircraft developed by BluJ Aerospace via its forthcoming Hydrogen Refueling Stations (HRS) in Kochi and Trivandrum. Furthermore, BPCL will engage in R&D endeavours focused on designing and developing an Indigenous Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Hydrogen Fuel Cell characterized by high power density to facilitate vertical lift-off, thereby advancing India's hydrogen technology capabilities.

This pivotal agreement aligns with India's goal of attaining net zero emissions by 2070 and represents a significant stride in aviation innovation. The project aims to transform urban and regional air mobility through the integration of green hydrogen-powered VTOL aircraft, enhancing speed, reducing noise, and improving efficiency while substantially cutting down carbon emissions.

BPCL is into exploration, production and retailing of petroleum and petrol related products. The retail business unit of BPCL is into marketing of petrol, diesel and kerosene.
